William Tyler Steers

Tyler is an Idaho native and has been working in healthcare for nearly 20 years. He received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Boise State University and spent over 10 years in mental health before transitioning to nursing. He then received his bachelor’s degree in nursing from Boise State and worked in the emergency department for 5 years prior to receiving his graduate degree from Gonzaga University. He is currently a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner.
Tyler has a passion for both functional and integrative medicine which helps him to use a holistic perspective when treating patients. Tyler specializes in lifestyle changes and weight management and enjoys working with patients who want to be invested in their own health and work together as a team to reach goals and maintain strong mental health.
He is board certified through the American Board of Anti-Aging in hormone replacement therapy. Tyler is also currently enrolled in the board certification programs for The Institute for Functional Medicine and anticipates board certification within the next year.

Tyler was responsible for initial psychiatric assessment and evaluation, diagnoses, developing treatment plans, and regular patient follow up. He utilized holistic psychiatric care in patient treatment, including incorporating various evidence based therapeutic modalities in addition to medication management. He screened patients for sleep apnea, hormone imbalances, and vitamin deficiencies. He also supervised by board certified psychiatrist with complete chart review and regular training complete patient care, labwork, comprehensive medication management, and referrals done regularly. As charge nurse at a critical access hospital, Tyler was responsible for direct patient care as well as delegating tasks to other nurses, paramedics, and support staff. He also ran the emergency department, while simultaneously ensuring appropriate care of hospital and swing bed patients as well. This required a blended approach of both, patient care, as well as quality control and maintaining elevated standards of care.

His time in the Emergency Department allowed him to learn how the department functioned and gain experience prior to beginning work as an RN in the Emergency Department at St. Alphonsus , Nampa.

As a psychosocial rehabilitation specialist, Tyler provided care for multiple aspects of patients mental health. Tyler worked with patients individually, as well as collaboratively with clinicians to determine patient goals in the home, community, and school setting. An emphasis in positive mental health was maintained, utilizing various behavior modification techniques as well as medication management and compliance. He educated clients and guided them through multiple types of relaxation techniques, and guided imagery to focus on coping with various types of mental health issues as well as cognitive functioning difficulties. In addition to community based rehabilitation, He was responsible for teaching drug and alcohol classes in the Nampa School District.

Melanie received her undergraduate degree at California State University East Bay, followed by her nursing degree from Drexel University. After more than 10 years of nursing experience, she earned her advanced nurse practitioner degree from Northwest Nazarene University. She is currently a board-certified family nurse practitioner.
Melanie has a passion for holistic health and brings an integrative approach when caring for her patients. She is a firm believer that lifestyle changes and weight management are the foundation for optimal wellness and reversing chronic diseases. Melanie enjoys collaborating with and empowering patients to reach and maintain their health goals. Melanie currently treats and manages medical weight loss, low testosterone, hormone replacement therapy and soon will be offering regenerative injection therapy.
Outside of the office, Melanie enjoys fitness, cooking, gardening, traveling and all things outdoors.
Kathy Borthwick

Kathy entered the field of health coaching after facing a battle with a chronic health condition. The functional medicine approach helped her take control of her diet and lifestyle, setting her on a path to healing. As a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach, Kathy guides her clients in a collaborative and non-judgmental way as they discover their journey toward health and wellness. She is a National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach and successfully supports clients through nutrition, relaxation, sleep and movement. Kathy enjoys running, hiking, cooking, and reading. She’s been married for 31 years and has raised 3 healthy, kind and socially responsible adult children.
